Far-Right Firebrand Abraham George Takes Helm of Texas GOP

Abraham George has been elected as the next chair of the Republican Party of Texas following a vote at the party’s convention. He received endorsements from incumbent Matt Rinaldi, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, and numerous other Republicans associated with the Dunn and Wilks network.

“I am humbled and honored to have received the support of thousands of my fellow Republicans and be elected as chairman of the Republican Party of Texas,” said George on X, formerly known as Twitter.

George served as Collin County GOP chair and recently ran for the Texas House, he defeated the party’s Vice Chair, Dana Myers, in the second round of voting on the convention floor.

The rest of the runner-offs included Ben Armenta, a businessman; Mike Garcia, former executive director of the Texas House Freedom Caucus; Travis County GOP Chair Matt Mackowiak, and Real Estate Commissioner Weston Martinez.

George, an immigrant from India, was drawn to the Republican Party upon realizing that its values resonated with his own, as stated on his state chairman campaign website.

He was recently surrounded by controversy when reports came to light that he tried to confront wife’s alleged lover with a loaded gun last year, but was not arrested or charged.
