Paul Workman works to give himself tax breaks

The political system in Austin is a rigged game in favor of the moneyed and powerful special interests at the expense of everyday Texans. And State Representative Paul Workman (R – Austin) is playing right along.
Over the course of his tenure in the Legislature, Paul Workman has found a way to play the system that ensures that him and his wealthy friends continue to gets tax cuts, and continues to vote against hard working Texans. Workman voted for House Bill 1682, which exempted owners and operators of luxury aircraft from paying state sales and excise taxes when they repaired, remodeled or provided maintenance on a plane. Under current law, flight schools and instructors, and planes used for agricultural purposes are exempted from sales and excise taxes.  Workman wanted to extend this tax exemption, to “anyone,” meaning anyone wealthy enough to afford their own private plane.
The Texas Legislative Budget Board estimated this measure would have robbed the state highway fund of about $5 million in 2018, diverting funds from local roads into the pockets of millionaires and billionaires who own private jets.
Fortunately, HB-1682 never made it out of committee, but it highlights how some legislators look out for their bottom line, and argue for “tax cuts” to effectively line their own pockets.
While Workman would rather pocket taxpayers money for himself, he also voted against a motion to fast-track raising the minimum wage for Texas workers in 2017.
We know that State Rep. Paul Workman benefits from the corrupt system in Austin with his access to voting for tax cuts for himself. How can you trust Paul Workman to represent the people of his district when he would rather vote for bills that would increase his income, then vote for bills against everyday Texans?
