Paxton Temporarily Halts Whistleblower Lawsuit

A recent development in the longstanding legal battle involving Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has seen a temporary pause.

Paxton’s legal team took action, filing a lawsuit against the whistleblowers, and securing a ruling from 424th District Court Judge Evan Stubbs in Burnet County, to pause further action in the case for at least one week. The judge scheduled a hearing for November 14, as first reported by The Dallas Morning News.

Until recently, the suit had remained on hold following a settlement involving a $3.3 million payout to four employees who were terminated after reporting Paxton to the FBI in 2020 regarding his dealings with an Austin real estate developer, Nate Paul.

The lawsuit later triggered a House ethics investigation leading to Paxton’s impeachment, however, the Texas Senate acquitted Paxton of all charges and he resumed his duties as the Attorney General.

Despite the whistleblowers agreeing to a settlement, the payment terms were not entirely fulfilled as the Texas Legislature declined to appropriate the allocated $3.3 million.

As of now, the Attorney General’s legal team has not given a comment to The Dallas Morning News on the temporary halt.
