Gov. Abbott Tests Negative for COVID-19 After White House Visit

Gov. Greg Abbott revealed in an interview with a Wichita Falls TV station on Tuesday that he tested negative for COVID-19 after his visit to the White House last week.

“I wanted to take every precaution after learning two White House aides tested positive,” Abbott said.

Abbott’s meeting with President Donald Trump last Thursday followed the news that one of the president’s valets had tested positive for coronavirus disease. A day later it was announced that Vice President Mike Pence’s press secretary had also tested positive.

Abbott, three aides and an unspecified number of Texas Department of Public Safety security-detail officers have all been tested for COVID-19 since returning to Texas, Abbott spokesman John Wittman told the Dallas Morning News

All of their test results were negative.

As it turns out, this was the third time Abbott has been tested. He was tested about six weeks ago, the day before he traveled to Washington and, finally, after his return from D.C. The tests have all come back negative.
