Texas Democrats Already Working to Defeat Abbott

The 2022 election is two years away, but that isn’t stopping Democrats from getting a head start. In an announcement that has all the surprise of the sun coming up in the morning, a group of Texas Democrats have formed a political action committee and say they will be working to prevent Republican Gov. Greg Abbottt from being re-elected.

The new beatabbott.com website states, “Governor Greg Abbott ignored scientists and doctors, and now thousands of Texans are sick and dying from coronavirus. Back his future opponent, and help us beat him.”

The Beat Abbott PAC is led by Tory Gavito, president and co-founder of Way to Win; Ginny Goldman, founder and former executive director of the Texas Organizing Project; Zack Malitz, co-founder of Real Justice PAC and statewide field director for Beto O’Rourke’s 2018 U.S. Senate campaign; and Derrick Osobase, a veteran labor and political operative.
