Crenshaw Defends Himself After Snapping At Young Girl: ‘Don’t Question My Faith!’

On Monday, during the Montgomery County Tea Party, Rep. Dan Crenshaw snapped at an 18-year-old girl for putting his faith on the stand. After the event, Crenshaw’s spokesperson came to the rescue and explained the Texas lawmaker’s “bad” behavior.

At the event, the teenager questioned the Representative’s faith and to give “context” quoted Crenshaw in an appearance on episode 222  of the Jocko Podcast on Youtube.

“Crenshaw said: The important thing is that we have societal hero archetypes that we look up to. Jesus is a hero archetype, Superman is a hero archetype. Real characters too, you know, I could name a thousand, Rosa Parks, Ronald Reagan.”

The spokesperson told People it had all been a “cheap political stunt.”

“It is sad that our opponent is so desperate for attention that he used an 18-year-old to question Dan’s faith as part of a cheap political stunt,” a spokesman for the Republican tells PEOPLE.

Jameson Ellis, a Republican challenging Crenshaw, did admit to sharing the confrontation on social media but denied being behind it.

The spokesperson also told People that Crenshaw felt the girl had crossed a line and that’s why he reacted the way he did.

“His faith is very important to him because he used it to get through seriously trying circumstances,” the spokesperson said. “He used his faith after getting blown up in Afghanistan. He leaned on God to get him through that experience, it’s nothing short of a miracle that he’s not blind and dead.
